A bit about buying gaming keyboards. The truth is an expensive gaming keyboard will not make you a better gamer. But more practice will make you a better gamer. So don't blow all your money on a high-dollar gaming keyboard.

Now, if you are asking what is the best keyboard for typing because I write a lot. I would highly recommend an expensive gaming keyboard. The reason is that a gaming keyboard will help you type much faster and more accurately. Plus, backlit keyboards allow typing in low or dim light which in my opinion is a big advantage.

What Gaming Keyboard Should I Purchase?

Most standard keyboards are fine for gaming. They will not have all the bells and whistles of gaming keyboards but their basic keys and switches will work just fine for the average player. Now, if you are a professional, then things change immediately. You have the money to spend on a much better keyboard. But most likely the big keyboard manufacturers are sponsoring you and you get high-quality keyboards for free, right?

High-quality keyboards are necessary when typing and writing long articles and books. They provide a consistent tactile feel so that the writer can look at the screen while typing. This allows the writer to increase speed while typing. High-quality keyboards get rid of the spongy feel. You get a positive response that allows your fingers to quickly move on to the next key with high accuracy.

And I bet you are now going to say that the same tactical feel is needed for gaming. And yes, I agree but it will not make you a better gamer. So your old keyboard will still work just fine.

But for those of you who want to spend money on a gaming keyboard then I would highly suggest you put your money in the switches. Spend more on good switches. Build your own if you have to. My Personal Favorite Keyboard for Gaming and Typing

My personal favorites are MX Cherry Silent Reds. But many other ones are just as good. My favorite gaming keyboard is a "Ducky One". But again there are many others out there that are just as good. The main reason I like this combination is really for typing and not gaming. It's a great gaming keyboard, but I primarily spent the extra money because of typing. If buying a better keyboard made me a better gamer, then I would spend $1,000.00 on a keyboard, ha!
